Due to the railroad system, the office chairs came in demand. With the expansion of the railroad companies the need of administrative employees also increased. This fresh occupational need forced the creation of new types of furniture that would be perfect for the administrative tasks. Then these executive chairs were invented for increasing the productivity and comfort while working for long hours.
Official chairs had casters and a swivel function, which made them totally different from other ones. Due to these functions, the chairs are more mobile and more comfortable. The casters allow to effortlessly rolling from one place to another around a workstation or desk area. And the swivel helps to perform multiple tasks at the same time due to their added range and movement.
The advancement in technology has created a huge demand for numerous office chair designs. The latest technologies have created new occupations and some of those jobs require different types of furniture. And most of the technological growth has been introduced in administrative and information fields. And these fields have generated the requirement of specialized office seating such as computer chairs and ergonomic office chairs.
There are few factors like climate and architectural design which have recently influenced the office chair industry. The popularity of these mesh office chairs increases in hot and humid climates, and that is due to their ability to breathe and keep the user cool during the work day. Whereas chairs like 'Aeron' have been developed with emphasis on modern and artistic design. And this has drawn the interest of many businesses that are trying to keep up with modern trends.
There is a big difference in the style of chairs that is used by executives as compared to typical employees. These chairs could be divided into several categories such as computer chairs, ergonomic office chairs, mesh office chairs and executive office chairs.
Computer chairs are designed in such a manner that they become very adjustable and comfortable for long periods of sitting. These objects normally feature an adjustable seat, backrest, casters, a swivel function and a padded seat for adding more comfort. Most of the times employees work in different shifts and that is why different people use the same chair, so for this purpose the adjustable system of chairs look a big advantage.
On the other hand, ergonomic office chairs are designed to provide a supportive and proper sitting position for minimizing the stress and tension put on the muscles, joints or limbs. They are highly adjustable and comfortable in nature. Most of these chairs feature a fully adjustable seat and backrest, adjustable armrests, adjustable lumbar support and an adjustable headrest.
Whereas mesh office chairs came into demand when Herman Miller introduced the Aeron Chairs. Most of these chairs are thoroughly transparent and that makes them extremely breathable. Earlier the chairs had a wood or plastic backing with a fabric or leather upholstery. And this often makes the user hot or sweaty if they use it for long hours. On the other hand, Mesh has constant airflow which keeps the user cool during the day.
Office chairs will still continue to evolve as the modern technologies are introduced. And the unique upholstery offered by mesh will be improvised for better options. These chairs have travelled from a simple fabric swivel to fully adjustable ergonomic chairs with memory foam seats.
