There is a lot to be said for keeping things a simple as possible, and this is especially true when a wedding day occurs. Of course, as most people who have been involved in a wedding at one time or another will know is that it isn’t always easy to keep everything as plain or simple as desired.
When it comes to wedding clothing, for example, there is always the need for fancier and more formal garments that come with a set of special requirements. When the garments are designed for children any extra efforts or care can become extremely hard to handle. Fortunately, there are many excellent manufacturers and designers that offer up both plain and fancy dresses for flower girls, which can be selected according to the needs of the bridal party.
For example, there is currently a trend toward simple dresses which give the appearance of a fancier gown. For instance, there are cotton eyelet sundresses designed with deep ruffles, crochet insets, and decorative waistbands, but which could easily be worn for less formal occasions after the wedding day has come and gone. Additionally, there are tea length dresses made from more elegant fabrics, like durable silk Shantung, but which rely on very simple construction and removable sashes to allow them to be worn for other occasions too.
If a wedding budget is tight, or the bridal party doesn’t want to have to spend a great deal of time and care with preparing a flower girl for the "big day", then the two types of dresses just explained would be the ideal choices. If, however, the bride wanted something much fancier, and which most little girls would be delighted to accept, there are a huge number of affordable gowns for flower girls made in much more formal patterns and finishes.
For instance, there are tea length gowns and ballroom gowns of satin, taffeta, and silk which could be selected to match the looks of the bride’s gown or which could easily be found in colors and styles which would coordinate beautifully with even the most formal bridesmaid’s garments. There are even gowns with the same sort of lacework, beading, sequins, and cutwork as adult gowns, but which are designed to survive the rigors of even the most tomboyish girl’s activities.
Interestingly enough, even the plainest or simplest gowns can usually have silk flowers, elegant sashes, and ribbons added to give them a more formalized or coordinating look
