"For a few people, the pieces of jewelry that they wear are more than just pieces of accents. More frequently, it is a reflection of who we are. Irrespective of the type of jewelry that we are actually wearing, they sometimes speak about our personality. In other words, these pieces of accessories represent who we are. For instance, those who prefer pieces of jewelry that are simple looking yet elegant, are often, exactly like that and those who prefer jewels that are bold like those gothic jewels are exactly that bold as a person.
Those who prefer to use sterling silver, however, are said to be reserved yet not necessarily lacking in a sense of adventure. They can be wild but they know when to stop when they need to be serious. These conclusions maybe just plain personal opinions but if you think that you fit in to the last category, then this article is definitely very helpful for you.
People who love to wear jewels would like to preserve them. How do you actually preserve your sterling silver jewelry? Taking care of your sterling silver jewelry is actually easier than it looks. Keeping them away from anything that's made of chemical is a good way of preserving it. Chemicals that have a lasting damaging effect on metals like silver. Lotions, colognes, even shampoos, conditioners, dishwashing liquid, chlorine and anything that is chemical in nature should not be allowed to touch your jewelry. These chemicals can do all sorts of damage from removing the sheen off those metals to loosening any stones.
There are a lot of people who are into collecting pieces of jewelry and many of them love gemstones as well. And why not? Whether they're made of rocks or crystals of a certain mineral, gemstones are always a pleasure to the eye. Not only are they gorgeous but they give a sense of pleasure and satisfaction for those who wear them especially women . Some people also wear gems for the astrological value they hold. It is said that some gems can attract money, love, fame or happiness. Since there is no scientific proof behind this claim, they can still be worn for their sheer colorfulness which looks even prettier on gold, silver or any other precious metal. Indeed, humans have always been fascinated by these gems and there's nothing they won't do to preserve these natural beauties.
Although gems are hard to touch, they are not unbreakable. So it is important to make sure you take proper care of them especially when you are wearing them. Keeping them clean especially when they are inlaid in metal is important . To do this, you can soak them in soap and water or use a really soft and gentle brush to remove the dirt and the dusts.
One more thing you need to be conscious about is storing your gems. Again, while they are all hard on the surface, some are harder and more prone to scratches as well. This means you have to segregate the hard ones from those that are harder. You can tell that a gem is soft when they are opaque and those that are transparent ones are made of crystals or a certain mineral . They are naturally harder than stones. Thus, make sure you keep the crystals separately to avoid scratching the stones. Another thing that you should always handle with utmost care are pearls and ambers because they are softer and more sensitive to scratches.
Another thing you'll want to consider when storing your gems are the metals where they are inlaid. Stones and crystals are always harder than gold, silver or platinum. So it is important to have a proper storage where your gems won’t get damaged and or won’t damage other pieces of jewelry..
Gems may mean differently to people but the ways to care for them are the same. Another thing that you should remember is that gems, no matter how hard they are to touch, are still prone to damage. So giving extra care to them is important without compromising its nature.
