Portable air conditioners are used mostly in rooms where regular units are not allowed or the window spaces for the room are too small. They are easy to manage and can easily be moved from one room to another without much difficulty. Apart from that, no permanent installation is required, which saves time and money when it comes to using it. Prices for these handy devices vary from one type to another. Some of the factors that determine price are how efficient they are and the amount of space they can handle at a time. They are efficient and reliable when it comes to providing cool air in rooms that are not well ventilated.
The manufacturers usually provide filters upon purchase of the conditioners that are meant to remove odor. The filters can also be used to collect dust particles that may be in the room during the process of cooling. These filters are not permanent. They are replaceable, while others are washable depending on the portable air conditioner being used. Consumers are advised to change them regularly by cleaning or replacing them, depending on the type and how they are to be used.
The exhaust hose should always be kept straight while the venting system is in use, the best way to do this is to shorten and place the portable a/c unit where it is convenient to avoid such common accidents as tripping over it while walking.
Make sure that the power supply in the room is sufficient to avoid blowing the fuse and paralyzing the whole house. Most units require a standard 115 voltage capability. Extension cords should never be used on portable air conditioners, as they may cause a tripping hazard. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions to avoid making small mistakes like blowing the fuse, tripping the switches and using it over its capacity.
The water removal trays found in some air conditioners. They should be emptied regularly as instructed in the owner’s manual. Failure to do so will cause an automatic shut-off of the machine or the tray could spill over, causing water damage. In addition, they should be located separately. When it comes to venting, it is advisable to follow the manufacturer's instructions as the standards vary from one unit to another depending on its usage. There is always a venting kit that is provided to serve as a guide during the process of venting and it is easy to understand and follow the steps highlighted.
