The routes to company car finance have been decreasing in number since the onset of the Global Credit Crunch in 2008. The lack of available funding has caused car finance companies to reduce lending, restrict criteria and in some cases close down. However there are still a number of suitable options for most businesses.
Access to company car leasing finance can be achieved through the traditional broker routes as well as direct to the funder. The amount of funders to choose from will often depend on the quality of the company; are the trading accounts profitable, is the company incorporated, does it have VAT registered status, how long has the business been trading and what is the size of the fleet.
The more your business can offer in answer to these questions will enhance your options. There will be more finance companies available and a greater chance of finding a more competitive and ultimately cheaper price than those businesses which can’t "tick all the boxes".
It is possible to go direct to the funder as a business but this will limit the options available. It is always worth speaking to a reputable car finance broker. A broker will be able to look at large parts of the car finance market to give your business more options.
Look for a broker that has been established for a number of years, which has its own office premise and is registered with the BVRLA. A good broker will explain all the options, inform you of all the costs that need to be considered and give you a written quote for comparison.
Like any major purchase make sure you speak to a few companies to get an idea of what is available and where possible use a firm that has been recommended by a trusted source.
It is worth remembering some brokers will have relationships directly with the manufacturers as well. If this is the case it is likely they will have car leasing special offers for certain brands. This may well benefit your business if you have a limited number of manufacturers to choose from on your approved company car list.
There a still lots of options available it is just a matter of doing some sound research before making a commitment. Selecting best business car leasing company in the UK is challenging job!
