As we move into the Summer Season it is good to know what the looks of the minute are to ensure that your wardrobe is ready to equipped for every occasion.
Summer is a funny season in the UK – you have to be prepared for every eventuality and if you are holidaying in a sunny climate that puts extra pressure on your wardrobe, finding styles that work well for transitioning from planes to warmer climates, popping in and out of air conditioned places and looks that work with hotter days but chilly evenings.
As with all wardrobe tips it is best to go for classic looks that will take you seamlessly from one season to the next, as well as having on-trend looks that are both stylish and comfortable.
This summer’s on trend look is long. Think sophisticated long though rather than the hippy look of the last few years. Vogue.com has said that the key look for Spring/Summer 2010 is "the long-line dress, the perfect louche layer".
Louche, lounge, relaxed, easy, whatever you like to call this look it is the stylish yet comfortable long dresses which will be a key investment for summer 2010. And it doesn’t stop at dresses either. Think long easy to wear trousers and tunics too. These pieces are also great for the unpredictable UK weather as well as being ideal for hot sunny climates when you want to cover up and yet remain comfortable and stylish.
One thing to note also is that if you have any clogs sitting in the wardrobe then this is the time to give them an airing. Fashion footwear is going to be all sensible this summer with lower heels and chunkier clog-inspired footwear.
Another key look is the re-emergence of white. White is the new black, according to runway trends hailing from New York Fashion Week. Team with a softer palette of throws and scarves and key statement jewellery to really work the look.
The new long line looks are wearable and fuss-free, think simple lines and clean unfussy design. Designers like Calvin Klein with that modern take on the classic tailored trouser or blazer lead the way.
