Omega Speedmaster Watches
It's strange that there exist numerous causes that will make a specific invention, girls name, vacation spot, thanksgiving gift, automobile, music or color the preference of the majority. How does this happen?. Why can one thing be favored over another?.
For more than fifty years, Omegawatches have been the favourite wristwatch of many wearers.
Every watch is produced to a very high standard, and each is water proof, comes with shatter proofed glass and include heavy duty polished steel cases.
It's most likely that the truth behind Omegawatches being the preferred timepiece of millions of people is down to it's excellent name and reputation. An additional possibility behind their popularity could be the fact that they are the first range of watches to be given approval for use by American Astronauts by the governing body, NASA.
For almost sixty years, NASA astronauts have worn Omega Speedmaster watches into space, from the Mercury mission of Schira up to (and beyond) the first ever moon walk.
Neil Armstrong had his Omega Speedmaster taped to the console of the "Eagle", but it was Buzz Aldrin who actually was the first to wear a watch on the moons surface (also an Omega Speedmaster). From this moment on, the model has been often referred to as the Moonwatch.
It was during the ill fated 13th Apollo trip to the moon that Omegawatches came to the rescue. A little over two days in to the flight air cylinders unexpectedly blew up. To get home safely, those on board had to work hard and improvise many different systems.
Crucially, the thruster had to be fired to alter course, and this couldn't be done by computer. If this action wasn't completed to within a fraction of a second, they would never make it home. To carry out this important timing, they had to use Lovell's Omega Speedmaster. The burn was a success, and the crew returned home safely. It's noted that all Cosmonauts in Russia have been given the Omega Speedmaster to use on all future missions.
Omega is a Swiss company who have been designing and manufacturing superior watches since the year 1848. The watches are now famously known around the globe.
With the watch being the first on the moon, Bond's was changed to Omega in the spy movie Golden Eye. The watch was worn too by Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. The latest actor to play the role, Daniel Craig also wears a Seamaster. The special commemorative edition issued by Omega has all these versions in this issue.
Omega have been the sanctioned timing specialists of many top world sporting meetings. Legendary fanatics of Omegawatches include President John F Kennedy and Great Britain's Prince William.
Omega possess a museum adjacent to their centre of operations. It's a genuinely absorbing spot in which you will come across thousands of omegawatches. In addition to being the resting place of the earliest watchmakers work surface utilized by the originator of the business in 1894, you can see a variety of watches that have been genuinely flown into space, with a few that in earlier times belonged to Royalty.
