Summer Drinks

Parching heat is at its best and life seems to be sipped out in intense heat. In this blazing summer heat rejuvenating your body, mind and soul is the most important thing to stay calm and composed. Refreshing summer drinks to beat the scorching summer heat are the best way out. A large variety of these popular drinks, ranging from sweet to tangy provide immense pleasures and satisfaction. Try out the following summer drink recipes which provide the kick to get going in this brutal heat. In the good old summertime, you don't want to be bothered with a lot of preparation. All these recipes use a blender for fast results.

Jeera

  • 50 gms Tamarind

  • 21/2 cups warm Water

  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala

  • 1/2 tsp Black salt

  • 1 tsp dry-roasted and grinded white Cumin seeds

  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder

  • 11/2 tsp Lemon juice

  • 1tsp Sugar

  • 1tbsp chopped Mint leaves

  • A pinch of Asafoetida powder

  • Batter Drops

  • Salt to taste

Soak tamarind pulp in warm water for about 15 minutes. Mash and blend it and filter the residue. Mix all the ingredients to it and add few batter drops. Chilled Jal Jeera is ready to be served.

Shikanji

  • 1/2 cup: Freshly squeezed juice of limes

  • 1 tablespoon: Juice extracted from fresh ginger root

  • 1 cup: White sugar

  • 2 cups: Water

Heat water and sugar 30 seconds and add lemon & ginger juice on cooling. Add 2 tablespoons of this mixture to a glass of chilled water and serve with crushed ice.

Lassi Patiala

  • 2 cups: Fresh curd chilled

  • 1 tsp: Hot milk

  • 1 tsp: Sugar

  • 1/2 tsp: Cardamom

  • 8-10 strands: Saffron

  • 2 drops: Vanilla essence

  • 1/2 cup: Crushed ice

Mix sugar in curd till well dissolved. Add all ingredents just before serving and stir well with hand or electric beater. Light and frothy lassi pariala is ready to be served. Don't forget to chill and relish the feeding beverage.

Cold Coffee

  • 1 cup boiling Water

  • 4 cups cold Milk

  • 6 tsp instant Coffee powder

  • 3 tbsp Sugar

  • 4 tbsp Cream

  • Crushed Ice

Boil some water and add coffee powder and sugar. Transfer to a blender and blend after adding milk. Add cream and crushed ice and blend again. Serve chilled Cold Coffee.

Soda Nimbu Paani

  • 8 cups water

  • 4 juicy Lemons

  • 10 pitted and halved dates

  • 1/3rd cup Honey

Squeeze out the juice from lemons. Boil water and dates for ten Minutes and add the zest of lemons. Boil again for 2-3 minutes. Remove heat and add honey, lemon juice, lemon slices. Keep loose for 8-12 hours. Refreshing Nimbu Pani is ready. Serve chilled for a refreshing taste.
