Submitting to the article directories can help to increase backlinks to your site. The more backlinks you have, the higher your site will rank on the search engine. When submitting to the article directory, there are certain article formats which you have to follow.

The title of the article must not be in all upper case letters. You are only required to make the first letter in each word to be upper case. You should not capitalize common words such as "a", "the" and etc in the title. You can use quotes in the title but it should not be used around the whole title. If the title uses smart quotes from Microsoft Word, you must replace it with the standard quotes. The title should not be ended with a period. You should not repeat the punctuation in the title for multiple times. For example, it will be sufficient to use the exclamation mark "!" once in the title. The title should not have HTML tags. The author name should not be included in the title. When creating the title for the article, make sure you include the main keyword. Using keyword in the title will increase the chance of your article ranking on top of the search engine.

In the resource box, you can include the author name. The author name should have a first and last name. The first letter of each name should be in uppercase letter. The author name must be a name of a human and not a company name. You cannot use the email address to substitute as the author name. You may not include the title in the author name. However, there is exception to people who hold a master or doctorate degree. If you possess a master or doctorate degree, you can use Dr., MD, and PHD.

It is recommended that you only use one account to submit your articles. You should not attempt to create multiple accounts to manipulate the search engine. Opening multiple accounts will result in a permanent banned by the editor in the article directory. If you write the article with another person, you can list his or her name as Co-author in the account.

The standard word count of the article is 250 – 750 words. It is best that the article don’t contain more than 700 words because you will be providing too much information. If you provide too much information, the visitors will not be interested in visiting the link in the resource box to find out more. Instead, you should only provide the basic information. In this way, interested reader will visit the link in order to learn more about the products or services which you are offering.

You should only include the links in the resource box. Most article directories allow you to include 2 – 3 links in the resource box. Instead of inserting the whole URL, you can use anchor text to optimize the link. To use anchor text, you simply paste the code Page 1 into the resource box.
