Delicious is a community site that allows you to store and share your favorite web pages on the internet. Delicious was established by Joshua Schachter in 2003. Yahoo! bought over Delicious in 2005. In 2008, Delicious had reached over 5 million users per month. The site also receives more than 180 million URLs in submission. The headquarter of Delicious is located in Sunnyvale in California.

Initially, Delicious is called del.icio.us which is derived from the domain name. However, the site domain was changed to delicious.com later. Schacter told the media that he find the name del.icio.us after performing a quick test. The new name Delicious was announced on the 6th September in 2007. The new site went live on the 31st July 2008.

To use Delicious, you must first signup with a Yahoo! account. After signing up for a Yahoo! account, you can sign in at the Delicious login page. To create a new bookmark, click on the Save a new bookmark link on the top right corner. In the URL field, enter the URL of the webpage which you want to submit and click on the Next button.

After that, you will be redirected to the submission page. In the title field, you should enter a catchy title that summarizes the content of the page. In the notes field, you can enter a description for the page. The description has a word count limit of 1000 characters. In the Tags field, you can enter easy to find keywords that are relevant to the content. Each keyword should be separated by comma. You can enter as many keyword as you want. However, delicious allow up to 128 characters per keyword. Though the keyword field is optional, it is important to add them to the social bookmark. Without keyword, your post will be buried deep in the site so that no one will be able to find them.

The for field allows you to send bookmark to other users in the Delicious network. Before using the for field, you should add people to your friend network. To add a person to your network, you should navigate to People > My Network. On the Network page, you are to enter the username of the person in the blank box under the Add a user to Network. When you have entered the username, you should click on the Add a user to Network button. You should add as many people as possible to the network. When you submit a bookmark, it will be displayed on their profile home page. Similarly, their bookmark will also display for you to enjoy.

When you have added the user name, you will notice it appearing under the Send tags. After that, you can select the usernames under the Send tags which will automatically be inserted into the For field.

Since the bookmark is for promoting your site, you should leave the Mark as Private checkbox unchecked. When you are done, you should click on the Save button.
