As it is known to all that the choice of the wedding ring plays a very important role in every wedding therefore it is essential to make some points clear for the proper choice of the ring you and your beloved is going to wear for your lifetime. As per the custom the wedding is the union of two souls and with the ring exchange ceremony the couple exchanges their heart with one another and thereby becomes one. Therefore the ring exchange ceremony plays a very important role in any wedding and therefore it is essential to make the proper choice of the ring one is going to wear for the rest of his or her life. This custom originated in the ancient Egypt and gradually spread throughout the world. Being one of the most integral part of the wedding ceremony it marks the union of two souls and the best part is that with the exchange of the rings it is believed that the two souls of the bride and the groom becomes united with each other. And the wedding ring is the symbol of this infinite love.
Though at times in ancient Rome there was the custom where the wedding ring was symbolized as the mark of the domination of men over women. It was the representative denoting that the woman who accepts the ring from a man is bound to that man for her life time and she thereon to be treated as his property. This concept of commodification of women is no longer associated with the wedding ring but in its place it has turned into a symbol of love and trust upon each other. Therefore the wedding ring is considered to be a symbol of loving memories these days.
Wedding ceremony is celebrated differently indifferent countries and like that ring ceremony is also not similar. There are some customs where wedding ring is worn on their right ring finger and there are some countries where wedding ring is worn on their left ring finger. Another option is to have the main bridesmaid keep the ring during the ceremony – there are a variety of ways to keep it: in a pouch, on a plate, etc. After the ceremony, the ring can be placed back on either the left or the right hand.
This is generally made up of precious yellow alloy of gold, hardened with copper and Silver or tin and bismuth. Copper, silver, tin or bismuth is used to make the gold more durable and hard. Now a day a trend is that wedding ring can not be made with out platinum or titanium. These are more durable and fashionable too. Platinum with white alloys of gold are demanding by the wedding couples. Slightly yellow ‘white’ gold alloys which was used with gold is now replaced with cheaper nickel-gold alloy with a plating of rhodium. This can be cheap than before but it is it is not at all durable and good. Tungsten and titanium can also be used as ring materials.
A wedding band is a symbol of love and commitment of a couple towards each other; the wedding ring keeps the relation of a couple intact, no matter how far they are from each other. The ritual of using wedding bands is prevalent in almost all cultures of mankind.
