How to stop barking:Click Here!

Yes, I want my dog to stop barking!

I hear it all the time and I understand why...

No offense here but granny had this little poodle that she absolutely adored but that little yappy would yap and yap constantly when we had food or were in the kitchen.

There are few things more annoying than trying to have a meal with the family and yes our canine friends are members of the family too however when they interfere with communication with the human members of the family it causes problems.

So, what do you do? How to stop barking???

That's really the question, right? First, many annoying behaviors in dogs actually start when they are puppies.

Yes, much like our children we teach them how to act even when we don't realize it. Think about it. Everything puppies do is pretty cute, even that little yapping they do. The thing is when they do it as a puppy it is usually much softer and coming from a adorable little furry friend is somehow more tolerable. That and most of us think they'll out grow it...it's just a "puppy behavior".

And those same people are annoyed by the very same behavior the dogs exhibit as adults. Imagine that!

The dogs are doing the same thing they've always done. So why are we mad at them when they do it now?

Well, it is louder even to the point of vibrating the glasses in the cupboards...okay maybe that's an exaggeration but you get the point here.

The point is it's easier to prevent the bad behavior in the first place by disciplining your puppy or rewarding for positive behavior. That being said we can do the same thing with older dogs too it just may take a little longer simply because it is a learned behavior and you need to understand what you're trying to change and how much it will please you for them to change their behavior.

Something as simple as placing your thumb and index finger firmly around the muzzle when they bark and say "no" firmly. Obviously don't feed from the table or near the table feed them prior to dinner or even when you are eating.

And of course reward good behavior. Lavishly let them know you are proud of them and give a small treat.

How to stop barking isn't really a question...Here we have a solution to an annoying behavior. For more helpful FREE Dog Training Tips go to http://www.dog-training-outlet.com
