Want to learn a bit more about the new iPhone 4? First of all, its will come with a brand new design. The iPhone 4 represents the very first radical alteration ever since the iPhone was first launched in 2007. Glass on the front and back and steel around the sides promises to give the iPhone 4 a different appearance and feel. Apple iPhone 4 is noticeably slimmer than the iPhone 3GS, measuring 94mm deep versus the iPhone 3GS's thickness of 121mm (that translates to 2 percent less). The iPhone 4 is also slightly narrower, 59mm to 62mm. The weight stays the same at 136g, but the tweaks to the dimensions make the current iPhone 3GS seem a little big in comparison. Various other style and design modifications reveal a main camera with an LED flash (finally!), a front facing camera, elegant volume settings and, in what Jobs boasts is a world first, an antenna that is part of the key structural component of the mobile.

Next is something Apple are naming Retina Display that is the new display screen technology used for the iPhone 4. A new 3.5-inch "Retina" IPS LCD display is going to be the norm for all future iPhone versions (including the iPhone 4) and can feature 326 pixels per inch with an overall resolution of 960 by 640. Exactly what does this implies? Well it has a higher resolution than any other phone currently available on the market and is going to provide much sharper photographs and zoom feature.

Thirdly, the iPhone 4 is powered through the A4 Processor and will feature a Micro Sim the same as the 3G iPad! Apple claim they needed the space with the battery now taking up a large chunk of the build. Does this mean we’ll finally be capable of geting more than one days use? Well, Apple reckon you’ll get 300 hours of standby, 7 hours talk time and an impressive 10 hours of browsing using Wi-Fi. Which, we think is quite outstanding

Next in the list is one thing which Apple are very pleased with; the iPhone 4 has a built in gyroscope. This 3 axis gyro works in conjunction with the accelerometer and compass resulting in six axis which is ideal for gaming. Think the Wii and you’re going to get close. Jobs showed off this new feature by playing a game, which looked a little like Jenga.

Apple’s new features are coming rapidly and number five is a massive one. The iPhone 4 will feature a 5 Megapixel camera with a built in LED Flash, 5x digital zoom and tap to focus. Not bad, however Apple possess yet another ace up their sleeve; the iPhone 4 shoots video in 720p at 30 frames per second! Tap to focus is also compatible with HD video capture as is the LED flash. Apple aren’t finished with the camera yet either. iPhone 4 will also mark the arrival of iMovie for iPhone in the app store, an impressive editing suite for your movies and photos. Consequently, it may not be called the iPhone HD, however is can still record in Hi-def!

Feature number six is one we’re already familiar with, the new iPhone OS 4. We won’t go in to too much detail although the highlight of the newest version of iPhone OS will be the ability to run multiple apps at the same time (multi-task). Plus whilst Apple themselves will happily let you know they were not the first to offer a multi-tasking smartphone, they are comfortable they managed to construct something that will not wipe out your battery pack. We will save judgement until we’ve used this new OS 4.

Number seven is another feature that we are already acquainted with but one that’s exciting in any case; iBooks will be featured on the all new iPhone 4. iBook will work in a similar way to iTunes and you will be able to collect and store a whole range of books into the libaray on your new iPhone 4.

Ultimately, feature number eight is iAds. A tool designed to help developers earn money so that in turn they can drive down the cost of apps and offer a wider selection of free and low cost apps. iAds is kind of self explanatory; it instantly inserts advertising space into an application (only if the creator selects this option) and earns the developer added revenue from clicks and downloads. An strange characteristic to finish with from a buyer viewpoint, yet one that is sure to have application developers getting excited.
