Are you spending much more on your gas and electricity bills than your budget? Are you unhappy with your energy supplier regarding high price, customer service or any other reason? If that is the case, then it is time to look for a new connection.

Generally, most businesses do not switch their gas and electricity supplier often as they think it is a complicated process to do so. However, in reality, switching suppliers is not a very difficult task.

For a smooth transition between one supplier to another, you have to perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct background research on the internet as most of the suppliers would have a website with the details of the pricing policy. Identify at least three to four suppliers who could offer you gas and electricity at a competitive rate. Moreover, most of the suppliers offer a discounted price if you buy gas and electricity both from one supplier. This scheme is called "dual fuel". Buying energy under this scheme turns out to be an economical option compared to buying gas and electricity separately from two different suppliers.

  • Once you have identified your preferred suppliers, contact them and ask for a quote. Normally, you can expect to hear from the suppliers within two working days. Remember to negotiate during this process to get a cheaper deal and save some money. You can contact the suppliers to reconsider the quote to match your specific business needs and is it highly likely that you will receive a second quote from the suppliers, which is cheaper than the first one.

  • After receiving the second quote from all the selected suppliers, you can compare the price and find out which supplier offers you the best deal. Once you have made up your mind about your preferred supplier, contact them immediately and communicate to them that you would like to buy gas and electricity from the earliest possible date.

  • You will receive a contract by post explaining the details of the contract including; price, payment policy, termination notice, exact date of the service to be in effect, etc. You should carefully read the contract and send your acceptance to the supplier.

  • On receiving your decision, your new supplier would contact your old supplier and communicate about your decision.

  • As all the required equipments for supplying gas and electricity are fixed, you do not have to change these even if you switch suppliers. Thus, there would not be any interruption in service.

  • On the agreed date between you and the new supplier, you will start receiving gas and electricity from them and start saving money on your gas and electricity bills from your new gas and electricity connection.
