It sounds like such a simple thing but portable air conditioning units really can save lives. Many buildings become extremely hot especially on the upper levels during the summer months. In any situation with older or younger family members, it is imperative to consider and make sure that there is a thermostat in place. While an air conditioner is the most effective way to cool off a living space the temperature should be constantly monitored to ensure the safety of all the occupants. It will take much less heat to overwhelm an infant, young child or elderly family member and allowing them to spend too much time in the excessive heat can cause them to suffer from heat stroke and die. Temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit can be deadly and can cause heat stroke in death within a matter of minutes.
