An economical alternative to moving from Northern Virginia in a slow economy is to build an addition onto the home. One of the most popular choices in Northern Virginia custom remodeling projects is creating a sunroom. This may be done by itself or in concert with a garage or other rooms. Sunrooms are one of the least expensive Arlington home additions to build because they have less structure and generally take up less space than rooms with solid walls. A sunroom can be a separate building or simply attached to the current house. Deciding where to put it is part of the enjoyment of doing Northern Virginia home renovations. Consult with a reliable contractor to determine where the best location for it is with regard to drainage, sun exposure, privacy and scenery. People choose to add sunrooms to their homes for a variety of reasons.
Weather
A sunroom allows people to enjoy the outdoors with added protection from the oppressive heat, annoying insects and falling rain or snow. Sunrooms are climate controlled and do not get too hot or too cold, regardless of the weather.
Scenery
When placed carefully, these additions can have the best scenery in the house. Made of clear glass, they allow an uninterrupted view of the woods, the yard or lakefront property. Children can be watched while playing outdoors without grown-ups having to go outside to join them. At night, an open view of the sky creates an ideal venue for stargazing. It is an opportunity to teach children about astronomy and meteorology. Watching a rainstorm or snowstorm develop overhead can be a fascinating and memorable way to spend a family evening.
More Room
One advantage to creating a sunroom addition is having more space for friends and family to gather. While some may prefer to stay in the TV room or study in the bedroom, others can gather in the addition without disturbing others. This is a nice place to bring guests with comfortable furniture and chairs, or to add a table for sharing meals and
entertaining.
Haven
In the quiet solitude of morning, sunrooms are a comfortable place to enjoy a Northern Virginia sunrise and watch the local deer and rabbits out foraging for food. An entertainment system can be set up or the room can be accessible to wireless Internet for a quiet haven to work or relax. This glass room is also ideal for a working environment for those with creative tendencies, like writers, artists or architects.
