To everyone who loves fashion, get ready for the new spring/summer collection and blossom like the new flowers, dazzling in their colors unique beauty. But before you make a start here is the golden rule which must be followed without hesitation or deviation.
First is to go through the previous year wardrobe and carefully assess every item of clothing: with this task, one must be ruthless. If some of the garments have been worn only once or twice, or better still, not worn at all, then get rid of them. This proves that they did not come up to expectation, or were not liked. So no regrets, the moment they are out of sight it is guaranteed they will be soon forgotten.
Now that the first major step has been taken, start by looking at the new style by Donna Karen. This season, she has surpassed herself with her new collection. Her garments scream femininity, elegance and quality. Ralph Lauren pants and shirts for the boys have been given a new twist to the cut which will sculpture male body like super athletes. Gone is the low hipster in the jeans, in its place the higher and more refined waistline which gives a smoother look and the impression of a much slimmer figure. With these the choice is straight leg or boot leg: flares are definitely out this season.
In the last few years solid colors have been the trend but not anymore, prints are now in for both men and women with delicate floral in pure silk. The 1930’s inspired designs once again herald the beauty of femininity and charm of days gone by. For the boys, Hugo Boss has vamped up stripes and checks to an all time high, while colors are soft and cool: ready for the hot days ahead.
‘Too expensive’ one may say. Maybe, but good quality fabrics and designs which will last while continuing to look great, do not come at basement prices. One must bear in mind that a few well matched good pieces will take the wearer right through the season always feeling and looking first class and ready for any event, On the other hand when cheaper item are bought, these will give that distinct economy look that will perpetuate the vicious circle of items of clothing bought, hung in the wardrobe and once again, never worn.
From a scientific research viewpoint, the North Pole is just another part on the globe of interest only scientists. It is there to be studied and discussed in relation to the elements and other important aspects for which this uninhabited frozen part of the planet earth is known. To the media the North Pole is another piece of information to print in the newspapers; nothing more than that. Symbolically, to millions of children this part of the globe is hugely important: the North Pole is where Father Christmas has his toy factory. Where he and the elves live and make the toys which are given out on Christmas Eve to all the children. There cannot be open seas on the North Poles. Where will Father Christmas, the elves and Rudolph with all the other rein-deers live? Where will the toys be made?
This argument my sounds rather ridicules, especially when it presented by an adult, but imagine being the parent of a young child who is still innocent enough to believe in the miracle of Christmas and Santa. The joy of waking up and running to the stocking hanging over the fireplace regardless of where the house is located. Santa knows where every child lives.
Unfortunately the media believes that anything that any news that will sell papers must be published as close to the front page as possible and preferably on the right hand side so that the news with bold heading " The North Pole is Melting" cannot be missed by anyone, including children as young as five. If such reports must be published why can’t they be printed on the seventh or eighth page? Our fast moving world has already robbed our youngster of so much innocence with its advanced technology from which they learn things well before there is a need to.
This is reporting of information gone too far, what is left for children to believe in? What are parents going to say their children when they are asked where are Santa living now that his home has been flooded? Do they reply candidly that Santa does not exist? Or do they safeguard their children innocence and trust by saying that he has migrated to the mountains of China because since the population of Earth has increased, it is much better for him to have the toys produced where he can keep the cost down?

My favorite past time is writing followed by fashion. Combining the two together they give me a great feel of achievement.
