Low Income Scholarship Opportunities for College Advancement

There are a number of low income scholarships for those who wish to receive a degree but cannot afford to pay for tuition costs as well as all of the other expenses associated with going to a college or university. There is the Unmet Need Scholarship Program, which is available to a number of low-income families that have a combined income less than $30,000. The amount which students may be awarded can be anywhere from $1,000 to nearly $4,000. This scholarship is meant to fill the needs of unmet expenses for college students who cannot afford tuition.
The Gates Millennium scholarship is something else to consider, and the original founders were Bill and Melinda Gates. It is part of their foundation to help students who come from families with a low income go to school. This particular scholarship is directed more toward minorities such as African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanic Americans. In order to qualify for this one, you will have to be a legal citizen of the U.S and have at least a 3.3 GPA.
When considering all of your options, you should also not overlook the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund. This is certainly one of the best low income scholarships, and it is offered by the American Bar Association to students who are most in need and plan on attending a law school that is ABA-accredited. This is a nice opportunitiy for those with an interest in the legal field.
You may also look into the Google Scholarship Program. This is a program which was designed to help undergraduate or graduate students who are in need financially. This is a scholarship specifically for Hispanic students who plan on pursuing a college degree in computer science or some similar field of study. Those who qualify must be either a junior or senior in an undergraduate or graduate program. You must also be a legal U.S citizen and have a 3.5 GPA.
All of these low income scholarships are certainly worth considering, and the more you apply to, the better your chances will be of getting the kind of financial assistance you are in need of. Before applying for any of these scholarships, it is important to carefully review all of the qualifications to maximize your time for this process.
