Many people spend more time than they need to vacuuming because they are not doing it efficiently. By knowing how to vacuum properly, you will make the chore easier for yourself, meaning you will have more time to do things that you'd rather do.
Be sure to vacuum in different directions as often as possible, because it will keep your carpet living much longer. Vacuuming in different directions loosens the debris that has been dug into the carpet. If you don't have enough time to vacuum in various motions, be sure to vacuum in different directions each time you do it.
You should not rush the job, but rather vacuum at a moderate, comfortable pace. Rushing the job will make it less effective. The most important motion when vacuuming is the pulling-back motion. When you are pulling the vacuum back towards you, be sure to take your time, as it is when most of the debris is collected.
Empty your vacuum cleaner bags regularly to ensure that debris is being collected efficiently. If you let the bag get too full, the motor will have to work a lot harder to collect debris, and even then it will not have a place to go. Overfilling a vacuum bag is an easy way to ruin your vacuum just like that.
You should also clean your beater bar regularly in order to increase effectiveness. Every time you change your bag, you should clean your beater bar. It is at the bottom of your vacuum and helps to loosen debris from the carpet. Over time, hair and debris can get caught in it, making it harder to pick up debris. If you replace this device annually, you will be even better off.
Lastly, be sure to have the vacuum adjusted to the proper height. This will make the entire job more comfortable to perform, and you will not hurt yourself in the process of vacuuming.
