Send fax over the internet? Is it better than using a conventional fax machine? Let’s us take a closer look now.

Traditional fax machines use the PSTN (short for public switched telephone network) to work. This means it requires a fixed telephone line. The expenses from this can reach hundreds of dollars annually per fax machine. That’s only for local faxes. If you fax regularly to far away places or to international clients, the bill can skyrocket.

In addition to that, it is quite common for faxes using conventional machines to stall half-way through transmission. This means you need to re-fax. More strain on your pocket.

To send fax over the internet tells a different story. Depending on your online fax service provider, you may be able to send faxes in a number of ways easily, quickly and reliably. In short, online faxing is a real money saver. Here are some of the key benefits of sending fax over internet as compared to using a fax machine.

(a) The monthly fee is relatively low (on the average only USD$10).

(b) Permits multiple users.

(c) No need to have fax toners and papers as there is no need to have a fax machine!.

(d) Long distance or international faxing costs is no longer in the vocabulary.

(e) User gets to pick and choose which fax to print or delete, hence reduce paper usage.

Because using fax machine is relatively costly, a growing number of people now prefer to receive or send fax over the internet. Virtually everyone now has a computer and internet connect, so using web faxing does not require more investment.

It is also very mobile and flexible. It doesn’t matter where you are so long as you have access to a computer and internet connection, you can send fax over internet. This is not possible with a fax machine.

There are many online fax providers out there which offer many options for faxing online. Some compete based on fees but lacked features. Others have all the bells and whistles but charge more.

Hence, before signing up, it is best to read review sites and browse forums and blogs on what people have to say about the provider you are keen on. That will help you make informed decisions about which provider to sign-up with.
