How can you tell if the man you just letting your home with paint on his pants is a professional qualified Las Vegas painting contractor?
Unless you are a professional contractor yourself, you probably have no idea how to tell if the painter is truly qualified to complete your job in a timely manner and to your satisfaction.
Since anyone that can breed can pick up a paintbrush and jump in a pickup truck and call themselves a painter, this article is going to point out a few common challenges that homeowners need to be aware of when choosing a painting contractor here in Las Vegas
Challenge#1 they give you a lowball price to get the job and then they do a poor job, use poor quality materials, and don't clean up after themselves
Challenge#2 after getting your deposit they skipped town and do not complete the job or even start the job(the best way to combat this problem is to see if they are listed with the BBB and or have an ad in the yellow pages)
Challenge#3 one of my truly pet peeves when it comes to painting contractors in Las Vegas is they dilute the paint to reduce the cost and to make the pain go much further. Some will even go as far as to pour out the high quality of paint back at their shop and fill up the empty can with diluted paint for your job.
Challenge#4 after beating your job at two coats of complete paint, they only apply one coat. This one is a little more difficult to detect for the unschooled EYE of many homeowners
Challenge#5 and last but not least we suggest that you never ever hire someone who comes and knocks on your door offering you" a deal of a lifetime".
What is the best way to protect yourself without being an expert? Make sure you get an itemized quote in writing specifying exactly what the contractor will and will not do. Get a written guarantee or a performance guarantee that the final price will not exceed the bid.
