If you want to perform proper maintenance care for your granite countertops, then you should be well aware that using a granite sealer regularly is important. Even though your granite looks well-polished, it will still require sealing once in a while. All unnecessary markings and stains will be prevented by doing this maintenance.
If you thought that the application of a granite sealer is hard, then you thought wrong. It is a fact that the majority of homeowners are applying it by themselves and it only takes a few hours of their time. A granite sealant, clean cloth and a few hours of free time to spend is all you need.
Using a spray bottle to dispense of the granite sealer would be the most convenient way to go. Start off by applying a substantial amount of sealant onto a small portion of your countertop.
Afterwards, wipe the sealant using the clean cloth you have in such a way that the sealant is spread evenly. Let the sealant stay on the granite for 4-5 minutes so that it will be able to absorb the sealant well. When the sealant is almost completely dry, this is the time you apply a second layer of sealant. This second layer should be thinner than the first layer you have applied.
Use a different piece of cloth to wipe the sealant even and allow it to dry for 2-3 hours before you repeat the 2 sealant applications all over again. You might say to yourself that this is a very tiresome chore, but if you weight it up with the benefits you will be doing for your countertop, you’d realize that it is well worth it.
Most experts on home improvement suggest that you use your sealant on your granite countertop once every year or better yet once every six months. Do not let the stains and marks be on your granite before using the sealant because prevention is much easier to do than removing the stains and marks.
Therefore it is essential that a regular schedule for applying the sealant on your granite countertops must be made. If you are unsure of what product to buy, there are different brands of granite sealers that you can choose from to accommodate your needs.
Because of its proven durability and fantastic aesthetic value, granite countertops are known to be the best among all kitchen countertop surfaces. Thus, the use of granite sealers is vital to maintain its good appearance and to protect it as well.
