Everyone has heard of Apple’s iPod music player, but with the many iPod varieties available today, choosing the right model can be a bit tricky. Luckily, iPod comes in enough versions to make every music fan happy. Whether you want a lightweight music player for the gym or a heavy-duty multimedia experience, there’s an iPod that is sure to fit your needs.

iPod Shuffle

The iPod Shuffle is Apple’s smallest music player. The Shuffle is about the size of a thumb and comes in two different sizes. The 2GB version holds approximately 500 songs, and the 4GB version holds approximately 1,000 songs. The 2GB Shuffle retails for £46 while the 4GB Shuffle retails for £60. Because of its small size and low price point, the cheap iPod Shuffle is a great choice for the gym or for anyone who is on the go.

iPod Nano

The iPod Nano is a sleek and stylishly designed multimedia experience. The Nano stores and plays music and video and features a built-in video camera. The 8GB Nano holds approximately 2,000 songs or 8 hours of video and retails for £118. The 16 GB Nano holds approximately 4,000 songs or 16 hours of video and retails for £138. There are many colors available in the Nano, including the iPod Nano blue and the iPod Nano green. The Nano is a great cheap iPod for those who need both music and video playback but don’t have a lot of space for a bulky device.

iPod Classic

The iPod Classic mimics the design of the very first iPod but contains the latest technology and multimedia features. At 160GB, the Classic can hold 40,000 songs or 200 hours of video. The device can play music, videos and can take and store photos. This model is great for consumers who love the classic iPod look or need extra storage space. The Classic retails for £193.

iPod Touch

Anyone looking for the complete multimedia iPod experience will fall in love with the iPod Touch. The Touch features wireless internet connectivity and allows users to play games, listen to music, watch videos, use apps, surf the internet and check email. The 8GB Touch holds 1,750 songs or 10 hours of video, the 32GB touch holds 7,000 songs or 40 hours of video and the 64 GB Touch holds 14,000 songs or 80 hours of video. Both the 32GB and 64GB models feature richer graphics and voice control. The 8GB, 32GB and 64GB models retail for £152, £234 and £306, respectively.

Although you can’t go wrong with any iPod model, the best choice is the one that provides enough portability and storage space for all of your media needs. Take the time to understand the features of the different iPod models to ensure you make the right purchase.
