Apple has just launched its four generation ipod touch on apple event day Wednesday. The newly introduced ipod touch gives more focus on video and gaming experience. The four generation ipod touch is much thinner and lighter than previous version. New feature included in latest ipod touch are FaceTime video calling, Retina display, HD video recording and editing, Game center.
FaceTime: One of the most awaited features added in the new iPod is the FaceTime. It gives the video calling capability to iPod touch, meaning good news to the Skype, Yahoo, MSN, and Google video chat fans. Hence, you can see your friends and talk to them that was not possible in previous generations of iPod touch. The device will come with two cameras, front and rear. The cam offers 720p HD video recording (at 30 FPS) and still photos (at 960 x 720).
Retina display: It makes everything you see and do on iPod touch looks amazing. That’s because Retina display’s pixel density is so high your eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. Which means images in games, movies, and photos pop off the screen. Text in books, web pages, and email is flash at any size. And everything is sharper. The Retina display also use LED backlighting and an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen for the best viewing and battery life possible.
HD video recording: The most exciting feature for me! With this feature there is no need to wait until you are back at your computer to edit video. Most importantly, you do not need to convert your HD video to ipod compatible video, which obviously reduce the quality of HD video. Now you can record, edit, and share stunning HD video right in your palms.
Game center: The new Game Center app on iPod touch lets you expand your social gaming network exponentially. You can play game with your friends and soon-to-be friends, in one all action, just like facebook. Anyone needs to play is an iPod touch with iOS4.1 and an apple ID.
The current iPod touch is available in three flavors with the only difference being the storage size. The base model (8GB) goes for $249, while the 32GB and 64GB versions are offered by Apple at $319 and $429 respectively. The new base model is nearly $50 expensive than the previous 3rd generation, however, some of the new features make it worth considering.
