"I am a star," is what Sharice Styles announced when she was only 4 years old, after she put glitter around her own handprints. And today, not only is she a star, but she is also a songwriter, performer, and a versatile singer. Her newly released song, "Pull the Plug" is quickly becoming the talk of the town. She has combined the sound of soul with contemporary music to create a song that is going to the top of the charts. "The world is not ready for where she'll be taking music to," said Jam Master Jay.
Sharice, at 6 feet tall, is a picture of grace, beauty, and style. While you may confuse her for a fashion model, you soon realize that she is a gifted and talented artist with a voice that soothes the soul. Her goal is to reach audiences, touch their hearts, and make a difference in their lives. She is clearly on her way in reaching her goal.
Sharice has been a song writer since 1996, and she has carved out an exclusive style of music for herself. Her music touches people deep within and stirs them to loving who they are. Mixing two genres of music, she has brought out a unique style that completely indulges everyone into her tunes.
Sharice was born in Yonkers, New York. Her father, Carl Davis, is a member of the Grammy Award winning Dixie Humming Birds. Her father's music flows through her as she continues to flourish in her natural talent.
Sharice has an inclination towards what she calls "old-school music," from artists Billie Holiday and Diana Ross. As a child, she admired Diana Ross and wanted to be like her. At the age of 12, she was enrolled in a fine arts school where her teacher encouraged her creative writing. Sharice also grew interested in the poetry of Maya Angelou and that's where her journey of music started. She started reading and writing her own poetry, which later became songs. Sharice is a strong believer in God and started her singing career in Church. Today, she continues to serve God by organizing a food pantry regularly.
She started working with Jam Master Jay and DMX. Sharice recorded with major label artists, which included Ruff Riders and Rocafella records. Her songs were recorded by some big-label artists. Turning down a recording contract, she went to Virginia to form her own band called Sharice's Pieces. After returning to New York, she joined EMI songwriter Shirazi for the tracks created by 7 Aurelius. The combined effort of the three produced the hit, and "Pull the Plug" by RedSha Entertainment was produced by 7 Aurelius. 7 has also produced tracks for Jennifer Lopez, Ja Rule and Ashanti.
Sharice has done it all, from a background vocalist to opening concerts in New York. People love the song, music, lyrics, and everything about her and her new hit, "Pull the Plug." The song is about a broken relationship - a message known to all. With her style, she reaches into the souls of the listeners, and her tunes are strengthening to the heart. She believes everyone at some point or another wants to pull the plug on something, so her song is not only for dejected lovers, but also for everyone.
She writes from her own experiences, and listeners easily relate to what she is saying and feeling. Her music is inspirational, fresh, vibrant, and pulsating as she tugs at your heart. Sharice initially left the industry because she found everyone copying each other, and she decided that was not what she wanted to do. She returned to bring together two genres. We clearly see this never-heard-before style through her new song, "Pull the Plug." The song is nothing like what we are used to hearing. Audiences hear the difference and love it! What she has created with a mix of two genres marks her place in the music industry. God has blessed her with a talent, and she is using that talent. Her voice brings out the emotion and feelings that her lyrics and listeners require. This innovative music by Sharice has struck the hearts of listeners.
