This item provides you a number of ways to prevent your husky from biting. The following instructions are valid methods that real husky owners have used to prevent their husky from biting. Every husky has a unique temperament and character and you should keep this in mind when implementing any of these approaches.
The Nature of Your Husky
By nature huskies are one of the least aggressive breeds. It is completely out of character for a husky to get aggressive towards people. If your husky is showing aggression there's a good chance that your husky has learned this behavior from another dog or due to a lack of training.
If your husky bites then it is most liable to only be play biting or nipping. Play biting and nipping remains a significant problem because it can cause pain to adults, other dogs and young ones. If you want to stop husky biting it will be easiest to train your husky out of this habit while still a pup.
Use of Voice and Body Language
If your husky nips or bite you, you should let them know that the behavior is completely unacceptable. Your voice is an extremely effective tool in putting an end to husky biting. Try stating 'No' in a very firm tone directly at your husky ensuring you have his full attention. Through your body language make sure you express your disappointment by shaking your head. Hopefully your husky will realize the error of their ways and gently approach you. If they do, then give your husky a good amount of positive praise.
The Alligator Method
Many owners of huskies swear by this method to prevent your husky biting. The next time your husky tries to bite, grab its mouth and safely but gently hold it closed. While the mouth is closed, use your other hand and body to keep your husky still. Hold their mouth shut while ensuring that your husky is able to breathe through their nose. Make sure you secure your husky’s body so that they can’t struggle or scratch you. While you are closing your huskies mouth say 'no' or 'don't bite' as a verbal command. Release your huskies jaws and hopefully the behavior stops. Your husky may initially think that you are play fighting so go on using this method until they understand what is happening. This technique isn't the best one to implement if your husky is too large and powerful for you to secure them easily.
The Forearm Technique
If your husky is attempting to bite into your arms or hands, push a forearm into their mouth Push a heavily sleeved forearm into your huskies mouth and to the back of the jaw to make it more difficult for him to bite down. This is quite uncomfortable for your husky and eventually it should deter him from biting.
Getting to the Root of the Husky Biting Problem
If none of these methods are working to prevent your husky biting, you may need to look deeper into what exactly is causing your husky to act this way. Separation anxiety is one common cause of husky biting in addition to digging and chewing. If your husky doesn't have regular company separation anxiety could possibly be the root cause. If your husky will not respond to any of these techniques then do not continue with it. Never resort to physically punishing your husky as this will likely lead to more negative behavior
