It would be a good idea to start planning for the special day, about three months in advance. This will give you a lot of time to get things done at a pace that would be quite comfortable to you, especially if this is your first experience. Now is the time to start window shopping. Begin to look at the various designs and styles available for the current season. Spot the one that you like the most. At the same time, begin to have a clearer picture of your budget. Try to make your choices with your budget in mind. And then finally, decide on who you will go with to the Prom night. Choose someone you are comfortable with and know would make the event really special.
When you are just two months away from the special occasion, you should have short-listed your choices and narrowed down your list of dresses. From that list, you need to pick one dress as the final choice and then go ahead and purchase it. Buying the dress 2 months in advance would give you plenty of time to make alterations if necessary. Especially if you are buying the dress from the Internet, you might need plenty of time before the event if you need to send it for alterations. Once you have chosen the dress for the occasion, you need to choose matching shoes for the dress. The dress and the shoes are two of the most important items that you need to purchase and have ready when the event is just about one month away.
On the final month, focus on yourself. If you need to do facials, waxing, manicure and any other beauty treatments, now is the time to get things done. You want to look your very best for the event. So now is the time to start toning your appearance. Also ensure that you neither gain nor lose weight during this time since you have already got your dress to the exact measurement. You don't want to lose that perfect fit by altering your shape now. So pay attention on what you eat, stay fit and stay put.
As the day approaches, make all your last minute purchases like hair accessories, jewelry and your date's Boutonniere. Make sure that you have a full dress rehearsal. See if you feel comfortable enough in your dress and your shoes for a considerably long period of time. If your shoes are a little too snug, get them stretched by shoe stretchers.
Now that you have done all that is necessary by way of planning for the event, the rest is to relax and really enjoy the evening to your heart's content.
