Everybody is trying to control their energy consumption because of the soaring global energy prices these days. A lot of money and energy can be saved by making optimum use of energy through having accurate heating control in the home. When talking about energy efficient heating, the aim of everyone must be to minimize the wastage of fuel and heat to whatever extent possible. Most people do not realize the importance of controls for water heaters. They are not aware of the fact that by making small adjustments, they can save a lot on their energy bills.
Rooms can be maintained at an ideal temperature through the correct use of heating controls. Even as much as 300 euros a year can be saved by fitting the appropriate heating controls in residences. Three important elements, namely extent of heating, place of warmth and time of heating can be controlled with the help of heating controls. Heating controls can be set to turn a boiler on and off when required.
A full set of controls or an energy efficient heating system will typically have a room thermostat, a time programmer or combined programmable thermostatic radio valves and a room thermostat. With the help of programmers, the hot water or heating can be switched on or off. The hot water or home can be heated as and when required with the installation of a programmer. This can be operated manually or digitally.
The temperature of the room thermostat can also be set to suit the air temperature of a space. This device senses the average temperature of the main living spaces of a home and it is mostly installed in places such as landing areas, halls or staircases. The thermostat switches on the central heating when the temperature falls below a certain level and the heating is switched off once a specific temperature is reached.
The home can be heated at specific times of the day by using a programmable room thermostat. This feature of the energy efficient heating system also helps in heating hot water only as and when required allowing great savings in money and energy.
Before leaving the house, it is better to set the thermostats at the lowest comfortable temperature, this usually ranges between 18°C and 21°C. A lot of energy saving is possible by reducing the temperature even by as much as 1°C. Extra needs to be spent on installation and wiring for these energy efficient heating systems. It is better to hire the services of a qualified electrician to ensure that installation is done correctly. Better temperature control is possible with the use of digital programmers.
Even though numerous people have a complete set of heating controls installed, they do not try to maximize energy savings by putting them to optimum use. Time must be spent on research to know more about the functions of each type of control. The instruction manuals can also be made use of to know more about a heating control system’s specific model and make. A copy of the instruction manual can also be downloaded from the websites of some manufacturers. The services of a certified heating control contractor can also be made use of to make the heating system work at optimum level.
