Not every digital photographer is a pro. Of this I am guilty.
Nevertheless I really enjoy my personal Canon EOS 30D. And, even though it is not a pro digital slr camera, I have shot some truly great photos with it. I have even won several awards on different websites as "picture of the day".
Looking for lenses for my own Canon dslr brought me to consider the Canon EF-S macro lens choices. Personally, I have discovered that EF-S lenses function really well, simply because they are designed especially for my type of camera. In the event you possess a Canon Rebel, any model, or one of the Canon 20D-50D, or even a Canon 7D, you are able to use these special lenses on your current digital camera.
The technological innovation has been exclusively targeted for dslr cameras with a APS-C sensor (this is the sensor that is in the entry-level to mid-level digital slr cameras referred to above).
To my wonder, there is simply one Canon EF-S macro lens available. It is a dedicated macro, single focal length (that means "prime") lens, the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM.. With a authentic macro lens like this one you can take the quality photos you are looking for of butterflies and bees, flowers, product shots like watches, and all types of small objects. Close-up photography is the main contributing factor for why I essentially moved from a point and shoot camera to my first Canon Rebel.
So, discovering a close-up lens for my Rebel was high on my priority list. I considered the complete lineup of lenses, several of which have a price tag as high as the camera alone... I couldn't afford them.
I settled on the Canon EF-S 60mm lens while studying the reviews and user comments about it.
I have made plenty of mistakes in my life, but this was not one of them. The Canon macro 60mm lens is my most loved by far, not simply because of the macro images it creates, but additionally due to the fact it manages other sorts of pictures well, too. For instance, any time I want to snap a portrait of one of the grandkids, the Canon EF-S macro lens is my personal pick. The focal length is perfect for taking portraits with professional quality.
I fool around with product shots in my garage where I set up a very crude light-box, and the 60mm macro is my lens for that, too.
It does not handle landscapes very well, and on outings to the ball park, there will probably be a separate lens on my Canon DSLR, but even though the lens is not perfect for all photos, I feel that the Canon EF-S macro lens manages most of my photo work with excellent success.
On top of that, if I decide to upgrade to a newer camera (I have my eye on a Canon 7D, and discussions with my wife have started), the EF-S lenses will do just fine.
As a close-up photography fan, I found that the Canon 60mm has really performed the job beautifully. It has an exceptional wide aperture of f/2.8 to produce rapid shutter speeds for those quick insects. It also generates a wonderful blurred background, the aim of a respectable macro image. The USM (ultra sonic motor) provides fast focus, again, nailing the bug shots with a very good "keeper" rate.
I would not be reluctant to suggest a Canon EF-S macro 60mm lens to any Canon camera user. It is an amazing lens.
I would not be reluctant to recommend a Canon EF-S macro 60mm lens to virtually any Canon camera user. It is an awesome lens. Go to www.canoneoslenses.org/macro-canon-lens/ for a much better look.
