What you should know About Solar Panels

Are all Solar Systems the Same?

No! Buyers beware! There are a lot of differences in equipment and the way it is installed. When you purchase a solar system make certain you get your information from experienced, reliable sources.

What are the warranties and life expectancy of solar?

Most of the main solar panel manufacturers offer a 20 to 30 year panel warranty. Inverter manufacturers offer 10- 12 year warranties. Select a system that provides the best and longest warranties. Your system should have an expected life span of approximately 30 to 40 years.

Are all solar panels the same?

Most definitely not! All solar panels have an efficiency rating. Panels with a (-5/+5) efficiency rating are not as productive as panels with a (-0/+5) efficiency ratings. Over the life of one's solar system, this makes a very big difference in the amount of solar energy that is produced for your home.

Is there any system maintenance required?

Since there are no moving parts, your solar system is basically maintenance free. If it does not rain in your area that often, you may only need to wash the panels to remove dust and debris every now and then.

How does a photovoltaic Solar system work?

Solar modules are installed either on the roof or on the ground. Sunlight hits the solar modules and creates DC power. This DC power runs into an inverter, which converts it to AC power. From there the power runs into your home or business directly through the Main Service Panel. At any given time, if the solar is producing more electricity than the home or business requires, the excess power will run backwards through your meter, and be fed into the electrical utility company grid giving you credit.
