A good ventilation system is a necessity to all those in the kitchen, either residential or commercial. It’s important to install the right ventilating system such as an exhaust fan or island range hood especially in the kitchen where dangers and risk are present, such as fire. Without a good ventilating system there are health and safety hazards.
The kitchen is often a favorite place in a home. It’s where you prepare food to nourish your loved ones. But whether you have a small or big kitchen, potential hazards are there. It is important to make sure that all your cooking equipment is always in very good condition and you should have a proper ventilating system. Always observe safety measures and avert all the fire hazards.
So to have a good ventilation system in your kitchen, consider the following:
• Choose the right exhaust fan for your kitchen. Exhaust fans are a must have in any kitchen. It is important that there’s a good exhaust fan in your kitchen to dispel the heat, fumes and grease, usually from cooking. Determine the size of your kitchen then choose a fan that is large enough to dispel the heat and air impurities. Never buy a smaller fan because it will be useless.
• There are different types of exhaust fan available on the market but choose a fan that is easier to clean and maintain. It is vital to regularly check and clean the exhaust fan because dirt and grease accumulates on it, resulting in a blocked inlet. If the fan isn’t clean, there’s a huge risk of overheating which in turn leads to fire. Make sure to check and clean the fan regularly to prevent the spread of microorganisms and the build up of carbon monoxide which is very dangerous to our health.
• Also choose a fan that perfectly fits with the décor of your kitchen and the set-up of your ventilating system.
• One important thing that is also very important to consider is the set-up and location of the kitchen’s ventilation system. There are two common types of set-up, namely hood ventilation or downdraft ventilation. Choose a set-up that goes with the structure of your kitchen. For maximum efficacy, install above the stove with of course a chimney or external duct which can expel the heat and air impurities to a safe place.
• Consulting an expert is still the best if you feel that you don’t have enough knowledge of the ventilation system of your kitchen. It’s the best way to be assured that you’ve chosen the best system for your kitchen and that you’re free from health and safety hazards.
