Appleyard press one of Manchester’s leading printers; suggest their top tips for printing the perfect three fold leaflet.
Three fold leaflets are an ideal promotional tool for promoting your company’s products and services. They are commonly used as takeaway, bar menus, price lists or information sheets.
In some cases they act as the first point of contact to your customers so it is important that time and effort is spent in trying them get them perfect.
Before you start designing your leaflet it is essential that you plan a rough copy of what you want before you start - it saves a lot of time at the end. Work with a blank piece of A4 paper. Turn it to Landscape view -fold it into 3 and mark each page with a number. Unfold the paper – you can now see which page is which.
Sketch on your paper a rough idea of the content; work out where you are putting pictures etc. Do you want a border? Are you having a coloured background, or a Watermark? Are you using Word Art for titles? Once you have done this, think about whether you need full colour leaflet printing, single colour printing from which you’re ready to start designing.
Tips for Leaflet Design
Keep it professional!
Unprofessional promotional materials will reflect badly on your business, school or event, possibly doing more damage than good. After all, if you don’t feel confident enough in your product to spend money promoting it, then why should people feel confident ordering it?
Make it Attention Grabbing
You need to make sure your target audience is reading your leaflet. By making it attention grabbing they are likely to take a closer look.
Include "Power Words"
Some words are known for being good at attracting peoples’ attention. Some examples of these are; Avoid, Discover, Save, Special, and Easy.
Avoid Clutter
Don’t feel like the whole leaflet needs to be filled. Keep to relevant points and images, keeping your message clear.
Margins
When designing ensure you allow for margins around each section so that the leaflet can fold into three. Many people tend to forget this during the design stage.
Use Images
The saying goes that a picture says a thousand words so think about using one. Make sure it’s relevant and reinforces what is being said or the brand image that you’re trying to portray. Also ensure it is of a high quality resolution for printing.
Call to Action
Tell people what to do next directly, motivating them to act on what your leaflet is promoting.
