The public resource on the top 3 ways social media has changed our lives. First is, there’s a new meme in town. The article stated how the simplistic perspectives of "new = good so old = bad" was based on people feeling scared. There was no need to feel that you can’t use the TV if you’re using the Internet but instead it’s only a transition of you’ll watch less TV and will be twittering on your TV screen while you load a YouTube video. People have the options to do both, or all of them and not just replace one method with another. What the author said may be true, this is perhaps only based on the premises of being scared. But the fact is, we do after all live in an era of technology. New technologies do replace the old technologies, you don’t see people using the black and white TV now that we have high resolution HD TVs. So I think the author’s statement is only true to a certain extent.

The second point that he made is "Innovation and creativity are helping us to do more faster". The author stressed the point that inter webs have crushed the barrier to entry for starting a company and creating new products and services. I agree with the author on that point. The power of social media is creating a push for the mid-sized/small-sized companies. You don’t have to spend millions of dollars on a 30 second advertisement on TV instead you are able to take a more targeted approach towards your customer. Just imagining the total cost for advertisement for a company; this has definitely provided a new advantage for small enterprises, hands down.

The last point and the most serious argument that the author made is "Privacy is dead" and I couldn't’t agree more. We web surfers are leaving traces all over the Internet before we even noticed. Google has records of what we’ve searched in the past and relates us to what we could have been interested when we type in that sear bar. This has taken the task of consumer behavior to another level, e-commerce companies are able to accurately count the number of clicks each advertisement has been clicked on and so forth. It is without debate that before we know it, we’ve already lost our privacy as a consumer.
