Rundll Errors occur when a Rundll file, a Windows registry file used to load up many programs within the Windows Operating systems, becomes missing or corrupted. Because so many programs depend on the file, Rundll Errors can be a huge pain for Windows users who can't run their favorite programs because they depend on the file to run. Luckily, there are a few easy steps to take in avoiding and repairing this error.

Step 1: Avoid downloading any suspicious programs.

That advertisement telling you that downloading their free program will fix all of your computer's problems may be enticing, but that program probably contains some sort of virus or trojan that will infect your computer in reality. Most Rundll Errors occur from viruses getting into your computer and deleting or corrupting the file. The only way to prevent this from ever happening is to avoid downloading and installing suspicious programs onto your computer.

Step 2: If the error is occurring, stop the process and run a virus scanner immediately.

If the Rundll Error has already affected your computer, the first step needed is to stop the process that is giving you the error. Open Start menu, open Run and type services.msc in the Command screen and hit Enter. From here, locate the process giving you the error, right click it Stop it. Proceed to run your favorite virus scanner immediately afterward to get rid of any malware that is infecting your computer.

Step 3: Locate and delete the Rundll file.

If the file is corrupted, the only way to remedy the situation once all of the malware is gone is to delete the Rundll file and force Windows to create a new one. This can be done automatically with a good Registry Cleaning program, or can be done manually.

To do this manually, Start and open up the Run program. Type in regedit and hit enter to open up the Registry window. Carefully search for the key identified as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion RUN and in the right side window click "rusvdgpo" = "%System%undll32.exe %System%usvdgpo.dll, [Various LETTERS]." Delete this value and restart the computer. Note: This method is dangerous and is not recommended if a Registry Cleaner is available to do the job instead.

Rundll Errors can be annoying and frustrating, but with a little patience and diligence they can easily be fixed or, preferably, avoided all together.
