Awareness raising is often a very important part of your fundraising campaigns! The more people that know and care about your cause, the more ability you will have to successfully fundraise larger amounts!
And so you will obviously market and advertise your cause to the world as much as possible! The easier and more effective this awareness raising is, the more you will be able to focus on fundraising and of course your cause.
A really great and effective awareness raising idea is to actually use what is called an "Awareness Raising Fundraiser"... A fundraiser that not only raises you funds, but one, that also raises you awareness at the same time. And of course, this in turn, will help you raise more funds!
How does this work, you ask? Well, let us use the Calendar Fundraiser as an example...
You raise funds from a calendar fundraiser by selling the calendars to supporters... and also, if you want to, by selling advertising on the calendars. Your calendars are then used by your supporters and this essentially puts your organization's logo, contact details, fundraising event dates, and website address up on someone's wall all year round!
Whether that is someone's office wall, a staff room, a reception area, or a private home; that logo is being broadcasted to the people who bought the calendar, to all their friends, their family, their colleagues, and even their customers!
This will then firstly, remind your supporter that you exist, every time he looks at your calendar. And secondly it will also build interest in your supporter's network of people (friends, family, colleagues, and customers).
They may like the calendar and want to buy one themselves... Or they may ask your supporter about your great cause... Or they may see your website address and be interested enough to visit it and then possibly donate. Or they will possibly do all of the above! There are of course, lots of other variables to this example...
But, I am sure you start seeing the benefits of using an "Awareness Raising Fundraiser" every once in a while!
Compare that to a straight forward product fundraiser, where you will probably raise the same amount of funds... but where your customers will never have to think about you again, and where they will not spread the word about your cause, like an awareness raiser will!
Some other examples of "Awareness Raising Fundraisers" are... Organization Cookbooks, Car Magnets, and Fortune Cookies. A golf day is also another great way of raising awareness for your cause!
