From all of the items you can get for your favorite child, why a kid's kitchen set? After all, a play kitchen can be more expensive than many other toys. What are the benefits?
Some things to take into account:
Interactive Play - Your child is actively involved with the play kitchen. There are a activities they can do: cooking, serving, eating and doing dishes. Your toddler is not sitting around doing another passive activity such as watching TV or playing video game|with computer.
Promote Imagination - A children's kitchen play set, by definition, is all about imagination. There are a lot of ways children learn. Playing kitchen is one of those ways. When a girl or boy pretends, they can test different scenarios to look at how things work.
Pretend Play - Mother cooks. Father cooks. Your child wants to impersonate mom and dad. Doing as others do is a way a girl or boy learns. Of course, you would never let your kid use an actual stove to learn. This is a job for a play kitchen set.
Instruction - So how can a kid begin to learn to cook? They are too young to use a stove, but not on a kid's kitchen stove.
With a play kitchen you also have the opportunity to teach your preschooler about food. You can find play food for every cuisine. Teach your girl or boy about the different types of food and nutrition.
So, with a toddler play kitchen set you can practice cooking and serving food. They can learn about what to do while they eat. And finally, they learn about cleaning up and doing the dishes.
Social Training - You do more than just cook when you are playing kitchen. You also serve play food and share a meal. This is a wonderful time to practice "Please", "Thank you", and "Pass the melon, please."
Spend Time Together - Amongst the best forms of quality time you can have with your girl or boy, is playing kitchen with them. As a parent, I can tell you it is a gratifying time.
There is benefit in taking time with your kid to do things which they want.
A play kitchen may be one of the more costly items you can buy for your kid. But it is not necessarily more expensive than some electronic toys. For a less costly alternative, there are table top play stove alternatives.
Finally, the reason to buy a pretend play kitchen set is that it encourages interactive play and gives you opportunity to bond with your toddler.
