Three ways to Put your Local Business on the First Page of Google
Did you know that there are three ways that your company or business can have a presence on page one of Google. Remember that 85% to 90% of all searches and on the first page of Google, which means if your company or business doesn't have a presence on the first page of Google. The odds of someone searching for the product or service of their needs and finding you are greatly reduced.
So again, if someone were to search for let's say "Fort Wayne carpet cleaners" locally here, there are three ways, three areas that the Search results can pop up and ways that you can have your business mentioned.
The first way is through local business results also known as "Local" or "Maps" results. The reason why I'm talking about Google is obviously Google is the number one search engine. There is similar local results that occur on Bing and on Yahoo also.
The second way is pay per click (PPC). Those are the sponsored links. If you look closely, the text is very small, it indicates these search results are sponsored. Typically you will find these right above the local business results and they also appear down the side of the search page. There has been a fair amount of research on "Eye-Mapping" or "Heat Mapping Exercises" done by Google that shows where people's eyes go when they're searching for search results. The Best way to find the study is to simply google "google heatmap study" or "google eye mapping study".
After reviewing the study, you realize that searchers are going to primarily look in the upper left hand corner, scroll down just a little bit and then also look a little bit over to the right at the pay per clicks advertisements. Just use the study to re-inforce what this article explains - It's simply a necessity to have a presence at or near the top of page one of Google.
In addition, there is the third place we're going to talk about. Organic results appear right below the local or map results. These organic (or natural) results are a result of both onsite and offsite optimization of your website.
A lot of people and even a lot of web developers think that having an SEO friendly website means getting everything done on your site. Today, it's a little bit different. You have to have links coming into your site. Use multimedia - video marketing, article marketing, podcast marketing, blogs, social media, social bookmarking sites all come into play. Obviously, we have a variety of different programs to help people in all three of these aspects, but I want to show you one last thing just to kind of give you a visual of these three areas that you can get your business on the first page of Google.
So again, there are three areas-the local search results that show with Google maps, the local business results rather than the pay per click results that are on the top and down the side and the last way is organic search engine results. So I hope these helps you understand better those three ways to get on the first page of Google; these are the same ones we use as a Fort Wayne SEO Specialist.
