Among the millions of both new and used cars up for sale, trying to selling one can be a daunting task. The question on many sellers’ minds is how do I get to sell my car fast? The obvious answer is to get the message across to as many people as possible. Advertising your car’s sale is the next step. So how do you go about it?
The main medium of advertising car sales is the newspaper. Major newspapers will have a car sale section on particular days. There is also the classifieds section of the newspapers. This option is a bit on expensive because you have to use a major daily to reach as many as possible and major dailies charge a lot for it. Thanks to the internet however, if you want to sell your car you do not have to pay dearly for advertising. There are numerous second hand or used car websites. Some of these sites are specialist matching hard to find cars’ owners and potential buyers. The advantage of using online advertisements is that they reach a wider target and you could place an advert on several of them for a fraction of what you will pay for a newspaper advert.
But not all newspaper adverts are expensive. There are those giveaway newspapers popularly known as shoppers. They are crammed with adverts of different kind. They will charge less for the advert but it may risk the chance of being lost among the numerous other adverts competing for space. This is especially if there are other cars on sale similar to yours.
Notice boards and bulletin boards are another cheap option. You can find them on major avenues and streets, on college campuses, at church and basically anywhere that there is a regular gathering of a large number of people. Their main disadvantage is that they are much localized and few people aver stop to read a bulletin board.
If you would like to deal with buyers that you know, you can try word of mouth advertising. Tell your friends and relatives that you want to sell a car. They will refer someone to you who may also refer someone they know. This requires no money but it is a bit slow and will reach only tens of potential buyers.
The easiest and no-cash option is to simply put a "for sale" sign on your car. It self advertises as it goes along. You will have to drive slowly though for people to get the phone number!
