The advancement of technology has allowed us to explore possibilities that we have never experienced before, and one of the best examples is how it dramatically improved the ease in communication. Aside from the World Wide Web, one of the most dramatic evidence of the evolution of technology is on our phones. The heavy and bulky cord-connected telephones became cordless, and after a while, the first mobile phone came out, which became sleeker, smaller, and stylish as years passed by.
The evolution of cellular phones is far from over, and besides its appearance and size, the features in cellular phones also became more sophisticated. The first mobile phone is only capable of voice calls. Single messaging system (SMS) or more popularly known as text messaging came next, which paved the way for the sudden surge in the demand for mobile phones because the rate for SMS is cheaper.
The next batch of mobile phones expanded its screen from single liner, to two-liner, to four or six-liner, then the colored LCD-screened phones came out. Phones were then built with radio, Bluetooth, calculators, and calendars. Then another major development came out the first camera phone. Some camera phones are now comparable to digital cameras in terms of resolution and quality of pictures and videos.
The most recent advancement is the touch-screen technology, which we thought years ago, was only possible in movies. Truly, technology proves that everything is possible. Phones nowadays are capable of hundreds of applications, which many people except for those who are gadget freaks, are unable to maximize. There are simply too many applications and features in today's phones, or should we say "smartphones", that even the average person cannot keep up with it's steep price tag.
Addressing the Need for Simple Phones
Indeed, smartphones are getting too smart. It is loaded with applications that most of us don't even know how to use, or rather, don't really have any use for. If the average person is having difficulty keeping up with the complicated functions of today's phone, what more if the user is elderly or has a medical condition?
Mobile phones were originally created for one main reason to use as a tool to communicate, especially during emergencies when a landline phone is not available or present. Elderly people and young children who find modern smart phones too difficult and complicated to use should be given an alternative tool for communicating.
Why would mobile phones for Seniors need to be different from any other typical phone? For most people, our needs change as we grow older. Most Seniors may need a cell phone that is simpler and easier to use. Basically, they need a cell phone that is easier to hear, and easier to see. One with fewer buttons to use, and most importantly, one that would be of use to them in case of an emergency.
The great news is that there is now a mobile phone that is made especially for seniors, people with hearing or vision difficulties, children, and people with medical conditions who need a simpler phone. Just5 phones have large, very visible keypad buttons which are easier to see and dial, a speaking keypad that tells you which buttons are pressed, a small form factor that is easy to handle, a higher speaker volume, an FM radio that does not need a headset, a flashlight, a simple keyboard locking switch, and a longer battery life which is useful during emergencies.
It has all the essential features that a person needs without further complications.
Mobile phones should not be limited to gadget-crazy people who are fond of different applications. Communication should be accessible to everyone, and Just5 phones make this possible.
