Around the globe many pen lovers and pen collectors have a soft spot for Lamy pens. But why all this attention for Lamy? One thing for certain most of these people will tell you it is because Lamy uses a careful balance of both great design and functionality into all of their writing instruments. In the Lamy collection there are a whole host of different pens to browse through. Below is a potted history of the company and two of the favourite pens. Hopefully you will then understand why Lamy Pens are so popular and why the company has become so successful. The super thing about Lamy is that their collections are not overpriced and appeal to people on all budgets.

Lamy pens goes back over eighty years when Josef Lamy purchased the Othos pen company in Germany. Just previous to this acquisition it is interesting to know that Josef was working for another big name pen manufacturer, Parker Pens. For the first twenty years Lamy produced writing instruments under the Orthos name and Artus name. In the early 50s Josef then began to operate and manufacture under the Lamy name. The Lamy company is still going strong and still operates from Germany.

What makes Lamy pens so special is their functionality and design? What better pen to start with in their collection than the Lamy Safari. The Lamy Safari is not an expensive pen, in fact it was originally aimed at the student market, which still make up an important market in mainland Europe. These Lamy pens not only look great, they are robust and highly functional. These pens are made out ABS plastics and the pen barrel is molded to a triangular shape. This means it is exceptionally easy to grip when performing. What stands out with Safari pens is not only their great design but the amazing colours that they are available in.

Another super pen in the Lamy pens collection is the Lamy 2000. Again the design of this pen has contributed to its success for many years. There have been hardly any tweaks to this pens design since it made its first appearance. Torpedoe like in shape these Lamy pens are wonderful in the hand and a pleasure to write with. Pens can be found made out of different types of materials such as resins, wood and metal in this series.

These are just two of Lamy pens wonderful collection of which words really cannot describe properly. Why not take time out yourself and see what Lamy has achieved with its outstanding pen collections. A really fantastic range of Lamy pens to browse through can be found on the Write Here website.
