The best way to sell your car is through a newspaper, car magazine, or on the internet but this does take a little work and can take time. Should you need a quick sale, the easiest ways are the car auctions, trade your car in at a dealer or use a cash for cars company.

You may think that because the car is no longer yours, it's not worth worrying about, but it's worth keeping this in mind. If your car is only a few years old, it will be well worth the dealership selling retail. If this is the case, try and look for a dealership that actually sells your kind of car. If a dealership doesn't sell your make of car, your used car is going to be worth less to them. Likewise, you will probably get more money if you trade your Ford to a Ford dealership if it's one they can retail, ie, it's worth money to them because it's within their mileage and age criteria.

Any dealer or trader that ends up with your car, will spend a bit of money cleaning it up, and then sell it on for a profit. So really, it makes sense for you to clean your car up, sell it privately and keep that profit for yourself… it's not as difficult as you think!
