Electric Christmas lights play a main part in most Christmas decorating. We have all seen Christmas lights and the majority of us have used lights when decorating for the holidays. On the subject of Christmas lights, we often associate those lights with Christmas trees.

As you make plans for decorating your home for the holiday season this year, you are advised to consider all the other types of things Christmas lights might be used for. With a little careful consideration, you can find countless ways to use Christmas lights when preparing for your personal holiday decorating.

Simply refer to Christmas lights to an individual and a picture of a Christmas tree will immediately pop into most individual's minds. This is quite normal given that such a multitude of individuals decorate their Christmas trees with strands of lights each year. The various styles and sizes on the market makes it easy for one to customize their tree. You can purchase Christmas lights with small light bulbs, and also big bulbs. Quite a few people go for clear lights for decorating, but all different colors, including various colored strands can be purchased. Over the course of the past few years, multicolored lights have experienced a rise in popularity. It is incredibly easy to purchase single colored Christmas lights, or strands with a specific color combination to meet your decorating needs. This is very convenient when you plan on decorating a themed Christmas tree.

There are many other decorating uses for them as well. Decorating the exterior of ones home is probably the most favorite uses. It is wise to use light strands developed especially for outdoor use when decorating outside the home. They are easily located in discount shops and can even be found online. One type of outdoor Christmas light that has become quite popular is the icicle light. These type of lights are available in various colors. They are shaped in the form of icicles and let the light to hang down from the side and eave of a house. Often times solid color icicle lights can be tricky to locate. They are far more easier to find in clear.

When you decorate the exterior of your house, do not overlook the trees and shrubbery found on your lawn. In fact, if you have a number of nice sized pine trees growing in your yard, you may possibly choose to skip decorating the outside of the house and simply decorate the trees instead. You can usually work with the same sized lights on outside trees as you've used on the tree inside your residence. Decorating the trees on your lawn is an effective means of giving your yard a festive look and feel.

Strands of lights can also be used to decorate some of the areas inside your home. If you want to go over the top, as a large number of people do, you can decorate every room in your home with strands of lights. If not, you might choose to decorate just one or two rooms instead. You can suspend strands of lights along the top of the walls of a room. This is excellent when decorating the room your Christmas tree is in, as well as delivering extra cheer to many other areas. Decorating a kids' room is especially fun.

One of the easiest and fastest ways to use additional Christmas lights is to decorate a lovely wreath using them. It is as effortless as wrapping lights over styrofoam circle covered with a bright material. Miniature lights are fine for this purpose. For outdoor use, a wreath fashioned from grapevine may be wrapped with Christmas lights and put on the porch or on the exterior of the home. Be sure to use Christmas lights that are approved for outdoor use if you want to place your new wreath outside.

If it is allowed, you could even bring a bit of holiday spirit into your work area. Be imaginative and decorate a tree or a wall in your office. Two or three strands of Christmas lights could really increase the holiday feeling of your office.
