Games follow technology: even though the most traditional games always remain among the favourites of children and adults, all times have got their own protagonists, and every age its games.
The importance of game is always the same, but it changes its form: games get developed, becoming more and more technological and including pc flash games and solitary games, which, if consciously measured, can help children to develop their logical capabilities.
The online games for children can represent a little help for parents: they are for free and always available, and they can be useful to give children some minutes of a funny activity which, if controlled, can even be educative. Simple and traditional games like Super Mario bro., for example, can help to coordinate sight and movements, developing reflexes and the capabilities of linking the reactions with their respective causes.
Then there are the seasonal games, like the Christmas games, whose protagonists are the idols of every child, like Santa Claus, the reindeers and the elves, or the games to be played during the whole year, like the classical and beloved sports games, especially thought for the sports lovers who do not want to stop, not even at home.
Summing up, in the universe of the online games you can find games for children, even though, in fact, children of all ages can play with them: adult and children, all of us play.
In general, game is an activity which changes following the various steps of life, supporting its different stages: we start with the solitary game, which in the first months of life helps children to take consciousness of their own body.
Around the 2 years of age children start interacting among them, but actions are more a reciprocal help than actually an interaction, so that the games of the youngest children still remain essentially solitary.
When children reach the age of 4-5 year old, which coincides with the scholar age, they discover the social games: only then the really start interacting with the other children – even though it may happen even before the scholar age, mostly if children have brothers or sisters.
Then, once the social game stage is reached, children start their relationships with the other children, inventing new games that are made for the only purpose of having pleasure: the aim of the game in fact is pleasure. For example, think about little girls when they pretend they are doing the housework: if they really had to do it, that is if they really had an aim, they would not do it with the same enthusiasm. The fact of pretending to do the housework, hence without having to reach an objective, makes the game funny and pleasant.
Once they get the capabilities to interact with other children needed to be part of society, games do not leave their role: it remains fundamental in the lives of all of us, children and adults, and it keeps representing a moment free from any responsibility and with no other aim but having fun.
