Kenya vacations are guaranteed to leave you wanting for more. They say that the African spirit stays with you long after you leave and nowhere is this more evident than in Kenya. Its one of the safest country to travel to in Africa and has some of the most breathtaking natural beauty.
The first and most obvious destination for Kenya vacations is a safari. With one of the biggest national parks in the world and some of the largest populations of indigenous animals roaming freely, this is the place to see African animals. Lions, rhinos, hippos, elephants, giraffes and zebras can be found in abundance and can be seen all year round. One of the great sights is the pink flamingos and is something you need to set aside some time for.
Apart from the magnificent wildlife, you should make a point to visit Mount Kilimanjaro. It's the highest mountain range in Africa and is just breathtaking. With several inactive volcanoes you can climb all the way to the top 9if you are fit enough) and see Africa in a way that mot people never will. There's a lot of camping opportunity on the mountain and plenty of adventure sports at the base camps and national parks at the foot of the mountain.
Kenya vacations is not all about wildlife, safaris and natural beauty. Mombassa is the second largest city and has a very rich colonial history. It's a very exacting and interesting place to visit and has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The year round good weather makes this a great beach holiday and if you plan it carefully it can be very cheap as well.
Since flights to Kenya is quite expensive from the USA, its best to make the most of it while you are there. Car hire is very cheap, but you should be careful when going off the beaten track. A great way to save is by getting your own 4x4 and exploring the national park without expensive guides. As long as you follow the rules you'll be fine for safety. If you are on a budget, stay away from the big name hotel chains and opt for something a little more authentically African.
