There is no rule that says that home decorating has to be very expensive. Where is the rule that says all decorations have to be original artwork? Who says that a well decorated home has to follow one idea or theme? When decorating your home, using more than one theme can really add character to the house. Many families manage to decorate their homes cheaply and beautifully. Creating a beautiful home can be done cheaply. Creating a beautiful home is no longer the realm of paid decorators. This article will give you hints to help you decorate your home affordably
Ignore the expensive galleries. Buying new art isn't important right now. Prints are a great way to have fantastic art for less money. Prints are less expensive than original works of art. Original artwork is harder to deal with than prints of your favorite pieces. Saving money on prints is easy because they are usually printed in easily farmable proportions so you can do the framing on your own. You can save money on framing by buying a frame that is on sale and framing the print yourself. You can do this on the weekend or the evenings and you won't have to worry about rushing to pick up your art before the framer closes and you won't have to worry about how you are going to afford that painting you love so much by your favorite artist.
"Dumpter diving" is a great way to find free decorative items for your home. Do you live somewhere that sees a lot of people moving to and from it? Check out the curbsides and dumpsters in these neighborhoods often. At moving time a lot of people start to get desperate and will often throw away beautiful and barely used things to save themselves some packing time. You will be amazed at what you can find-you might find enough beautiful things that you don't have to buy anything at all to decorate your house. Don't forget to double check that your "found" item is actually yours to find. Simply ask the current home owners if they would mind your taking what has been placed curbside.
Buy new rugs to replace your existing ones. Room sized rugs can be placed over wall to wall carpet to give your home an updated look. Room sized rugs are relatively easy to find-most stores that offer decorations have a section of rugs for people with your specific size requirements. Hardwood floors or floors covered in tile can easily be touched up with accent rugs. Accent rugs do not cost a lot to replace or switch around. If you know how to knit or crochet, you could even make your own using old sheets and clothes! There is no law that says home decorating has to be an expensive endeavor. You are not required to dedicate a bunch of time to the task. You should have fun with your decorating project! Enjoying a job well done is difficult if doing it in the first place is stressful, time consuming and expensive.
