When it comes to deciding to buy a printer it can be a little bit of a daunting task. You need to consider many different options which include price, print quality and speed. In order to make an informed decision you need to have a real good understanding of how much printing you are actually going to do. You also need to have a good understanding of what type of printing you will be doing whether you are simply printing out documents or if you need high quality photographs printed out. These things need to be taken into consideration so you can work out the cost of printing over its lifetime.
We will take a look at a couple of different types of printers inkjet and laserjet. There is a vast difference between these in terms of speed, quality and cost. The difference between these two different types will hopefully help you make a decision on the type of printer you require.
First we'll have a look at inkjet printers. If you are looking for a printer which can produce high quality photographs and this is definitely one you should look at. Just so you know it will also print out regular documentation for you however if speed is not an issue then maybe this is the ideal type of printer you require. One of its selling points is that it can offer excellent color accuracy and really could print resolution. It can take a little bit of time to print each page and if this is not a problem then maybe this is ideal for you.
The upfront cost you will find is very reasonable and many manufacturers offer weekly deals on opportunities. However, replacing the ink cartridges can be a little bit pricey especially if you are going to be printing a lot in the beginning. There are many third party vendors to offer replacement cartridges at a much better value than the original manufacturers. You'll need to make sure you research online to ensure you're getting the best value and service if this is the way you want to go.
The LaserJet printers are ideal if you are looking for high quality text documents rather than high resolution photographs. One of the best selling points they have is that they have a fantastic ability to print quickly with crisp documents and the cost per page is very little. We are starting to see more color laser printers come into the marketplace and the pricing on these over the past few years has reduced dramatically. Generally you will pay more up front for a laser printer whether it is black-and-white or color the overall running costs is much lower however.
You really need to ensure that you look at the cost of ownership as this is a major factor when considering purchasing a printer. Upfront costs of these two types of printers are completely different. Inkjet printers are generally very inexpensive to purchase with the ongoing cost of printing can be quite expensive. Replacing toner in a LaserJet printer over time will cost much less.
