Shoes: what shall we wear this winter?

It is well-known that shoes are a passion, if not a mania, for many women. Here are the latest trends for our feet.
From Cinderella to Carrie Bradshaw, the main character of Sex and the City, there is no woman that does not consider shoes as something more than bare accessories. For women shoes are objects of desire, a passion, sometimes an obsession, an antidote to stress, an antidepressant and much more, and shoe shops are considered like a sort of Mecca, a promised land, a spa.
Among all the accessories and articles of clothing, shoes certainly are at the top of the wish list of women, together with bags, the only accessories that can compete with pumps, stilettos, sandals and boots. Maybe because shoes suit you also when you put on some kilos, or because they can enhance also a simple dress, they are the accessories that all women most like to buy. The passion of women for shoes goes beyond the good sense and, sometimes, the laws of physics, persuading us to buy too expensive, eye-catching, high-heeled shoes. However, to be happy with a new pair of shoes, you do not need to exaggerate: sometimes even a simple black court shoe or a pair of brand new boots can make you happy.
This is well-known also by designers and fashion houses, which always offer both extreme and comfortable shoes, which you can wear every day. The trends for this and next winter are variegated and fit for all tastes and contexts, from the return of pointy shoes to the reaffirmation of boots and moccasins, very popular in 2010 and most probably also in 2011. Boots, in particular, are more and more appreciated: to be worn with miniskirts or jeans, high-heeled or low-heeled, leather or rubber boots … with boots designers, and women as well, can really satisfy their whims. On the catwalk and on the street you can see timeless country boots and padded or fur-trimmed boots, biker boots (one of the latest trends as far as shoes is concerned) and rubber boots (until recently a simplified and much less glamorous version of them was used only by peasants and people in Venice with high water, but now they are very fashionable), ankle boots and knee high pirate boots.
However, boots are only one part of the shoe trends for this winter: while plateau shoes, which have been in fashion for a while, hang on, pointy shoes are coming back, although many women had stored them away with no regrets, as they were not so comfortable. However, among heels, plateau and pointy shoes there is also space for more comfortable shoes, without heel, to be worn also everyday and all day long: a pair of college lace shoes, inspired to men shoes, for example, always look good, and they look even better if they are made more feminine through glitters and floral patterns.
