After you have played a long time at internet poker you might will begin to question whether you are being lied to by the poker room. Ultimately they are earning a ridiculous amount of money 24/7. When you take into account the true amount of money they are removing from the tables it truly is staggering. Every single chip on every table right this moment (at the low to medium stakes games) will be taken by the room in rake within 48 hours. The players just keep depositing. The poker rooms literally make millions per month. So you would think their customer service would be good.

That is not the case unfortunately. They treat their player accounts like crap. This is the case disregarding the fact that it is a highly competitive business. Certainly the issue is that they just make too much money to care. And since money and power corrupt, it is fair to assume that these businesses have also become corrupt. The question is, to what degree?

It would appear to be pretty bad. Think about the issue of frozen accounts. If the poker site suspects that you broke one of the rules they might freeze your account and take all the funds in your account. Thousands of online poker players have lost their accounts in this manner, many of whom were completely innocent and/or were unaware of some obscure little rule that they broke. This is another real risk in online poker. Maybe you can beat the other players, but then maybe the poker room will just take all the money in your account on a whim and accuse you of being a cheater.

To add insult to injury the poker companies have a long track record of tolerating many minor violations of their terms until it suddenly becomes suspiciously attractive to enforce them. That is when they ban the accounts of hundreds of customers all at the same time and steal all the funds and make a quick $50,000 or so. Maybe that is when the executives need a new fishing boat or something. This especially happens to players that are using specific types of software or accessing player statistics databases (which are very popular and it seems like everybody uses them anyway). When the poker room decides they are no longer allowed, bam. No warnings. They just take all your money and close your account and say you should have known the new rules.

Are you beginning to understand how these companies think? Wow they must be building houses out of gold bricks! Their inexhaustible appetite for more profits regardless of any ethical consideration is insane. So be mindful with these guys. Don't keep a lot of cash in your account. And if you desire to use software aides that might not be authorized, by all means go right ahead. They may just abruptly steal your funds for some crazy explanation anyway, so you might as well get the tools to do the best that you can in the meantime.
