Fish tank aquariums are so much more than just pretty displays. It lights up a dull old room, livens up the dullest of office spaces and provides great company for any young child who wants something to care for. The days of the old fish bowl with tedious cleaning is long gone and today fish tanks are quite sophisticated. In terms of functionality its come a long way, but its no longer enough for a tank to just work well. They have to look great as well and this is what drives a lot of the latest designs.
The latest fish tank designs includes some pretty funky designs. Anything from old computer screens to iPod cases and even toilets found itself host to some (un)lucky fish. A lot of it is just plain gimmicks, but there are 3 in particular that I think can be a great addition to any room - without compromising on the functionality.
- Wall Mounted Tanks
Fish tanks that look like giant paintings is one of the latest trends that's not only beautiful but a great way to save on space and liven up any room. With a very flat design and built in equipment it can be a very elegant solution and a welcome change to big bulky tanks on solid stands.
- Table Tanks
Although this is a bit controversial, the idea of a coffee table that's actually a fish tank is brilliant. After all, we have glass coffee tables anyway, so why not bring it to life and put some fish in there? There are quite a few designs on the market - some completely encased in class while others have elegant wooden or aluminum frames.
- Freestanding Tanks
Although these aren't that unusual its still a welcome break from the conventional tanks that has to be placed against a wall. By incorporating all the equipment into the base of the tank it can be freestanding with 360 degree clear views around the tank. Its great for display purposes and works really well with cylindrical designs.
