Things I Love About Bathroom Vessel Sinks

In the last few years, an increasing number of home owners have been buying and placing vessel sinks in their bathrooms. If you are not very familiar as to the design of these sinks, they are a kind of sink that sits on top your bathroom sink counter, with the sink bowl exposed. Compare this to the traditional drop in sink, which drops into the counter and hangs by a lip, leaving the surface flat. So, for what reason would anyone want to get a sink that sits on top of the counter? Here are some benefits that these sinks have.
Vessel sinks are very easy to install. Imagine what you must do to install the traditional top mount sink. You have to remove your existing sink, try to find a new sink which will fit into the counter, but if you cannot you'll need to buy a new counter. Then you have to drop in the new sink, usually with the help of another person, and apply the caulking. Since drains are quite universal in size, a vessel sink counter will have a small hole just big enough to accommodate a drain pipe. All that is needed is to set the sink bowl on top, align the holes, and connect the piping below.
One other advantage of these sinks is that they are very easy to keep clean. Traditional sinks, like pedestal sinks and top mounted sinks, need a lot of time to clean because you need to reach around in difficult to get places and crevices. Grime and dirt could also accumulate around the caulking. Since these sinks are very easy to work around, they require much less to clean up. You'll most likely spend more time cleaning the counter compared to the actual sink bowl. Since there is typically less caulking involved with these sinks, you'll have less dirt and grime accumulation. Vessel sinks are often available in darker color schemes, for that reason stains can be less apparent.
Possibly the main reason why more and more people are installing vessel sinks is their artistic appeal. They really can be works of art. They are available in all kinds of shapes, like a rectangle, bowl, and the downright weird. You could buy them in all kinds of materials, from basic porcelain, to elegant bronze, to lavish marble. Moreover the colors are endless. You can choose between the entire range of colors, white, black, you name it. Or maybe you want a sparkling clear vessel sink? Then you can install a vessel sink produced out of crystal or glass.
